Single User Base

Multi-site implementations allow all users to be managed within a single database, removing duplication and wasted administration time.

Permission groups allow granular control of all facets of content management including assets, style guides, access controls and publishing privileges.

Common Asset Repository

Content assets (articles, images, videos, documents, audio files) can be shared between sites, reducing duplication and improving search taxonomies. Assets are version controlled, ensuring common asset (eg a document used on both the web and intranet) changes are available on both destinations automatically (subject to workflow rules of course).

Search across all Sites

All sites on an elcomCMS instance can be configured to be included in enterprise-wise searches if desired. For example, web site and online training content can be included in search results returned on the company intranet. Each site can have it's search results setting configured individually, allowing maximum flexibility. For example, sub-sites (eg micro-sites) can be configured to have their content returned in main company site searches, but excluded from partner portals. And the main site can elect to have it's results excluded from searches on a sub-site, if required.

Search results can be extended to include additional content types eg events. elcomCMS Multi-site functionality allows events to be searched across sites too (eg an intranet search can be configured to include events from sub-sites. This granular control increases information retrieval efficiency across the enterprise.

User Experience Improvements

Users can seamlessly move between sites, inheriting appropriate permissions and document control. Since all sites use the same elcomCMS content management system, users have a common experience - updating an intranet policy uses the same tools as a web page article.
