Friendly (pretty) URLs

Full control of URLs allows simpler, search engine friendly URLs as well as the ability to include keywords and hide parameter classifications.

META Description
The META description tag, although not a signal in the ranking algorithms, is an important item for encouraging click throughs from the search results page.

META Robot Tags
Control of noarchive, nofollow and noindex tags is provided at both individual article (ie page) level, and also at folder level. Folders can be set to automatically default Robot tags for included articles.

Canonical URLs
Full control of canonical tags is provided at article and folder level. Canonical tags support both relative and cross-domain use cases.

META Keywords
Although not used much these days, control of meta keywords is provided. Meta Keywords don’t contribute to ranking signals, but can sometimes be hints for mis-spellings and other non-usual cases.

ALT tags on Images
Images can be given ALT text and Title attributes

301 Redirects

Redirects can be set for both pages and folders. Multiple redirects can be assigned to control numerous articles, ensuring Google juice of historical and aged pages can be used efficiently. Redirects can also be set from folders through to child pages.

HEAD Code Insertion

Simple code insertion allows easy code inclusions such as Google analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, and Conversion tracking scripts.

Google Analytics Link Tracking

Use either _gaq or pageTracker (depending on whether you are using async or non-async analytics code) for tracking outbound links.

CSS menus

All menus in the Elcom CMS are built using CSS (no flash or Javascript required) and support panel, flyout and tab formats.

Semantic Styling

The content editor supports semantic styling of all elements (eg H1 – H6, lists, etc) to produce clean markup.

XML Sitemaps

The CMS automatically produces XML sitemaps for inclusion in Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools. The XML sitemap can be set to automatically update, ensuring Google is always able to access all public pages.

Google Tracking Parameters

Google Tracking parameters can be set for articles so that anytime the article is included in a widget or search link, the parameters are used.

Related Content

Articles can be set for use in related articles and documents, and automatically inserted into the related content - helping to direct link equity deeper within the site.
